The detail that makes a room look finished
Trim and Door Painting in Little Rock
Fresh white trim changes a room more than new wall color does.
Nothing Dates a Room Like Tired Trim
You can repaint every wall in a house and it will still look old if the trim is yellowed, chipped and gapped away from the plaster. Trim is what the eye reads as clean. It is also the hardest part of an interior to do well, which is why it gets quoted separately and skipped first.
The work is slow on purpose. Caulk every gap, fill every nail hole, sand the old runs flat, then cut in by hand with a proper enamel that will survive being kicked, cleaned and leaned on. There is no fast version of this that looks right.

What I Finish
Trim work is usually priced by linear foot and door count rather than room size, so an accurate quote needs a quick look at what is actually there.
Baseboards and Casing
Caulked to the wall, filled, sanded and cut in by hand. The caulk line is what separates a clean job from an obvious one.
Crown Moulding
Two cut lines instead of one, against a ceiling that is rarely level. Slow, careful work and worth doing properly.
Interior Doors
Panel doors have edges, profiles and a face that all need to flow together without runs. Hinges and handles get masked or removed.
Mantels and Fireplace Surrounds
A focal point in the room, which means every flaw in the finish is on display. Taped off tight against tile and brick.
Built-Ins and Bookcases
Shelving, cabinetry and window seats brought to the same finish as the trim so the room reads as one piece.
Stair Rails and Balustrades
Spindles are tedious and that is the whole job. Done right they lift the entire stairwell.
Typical Trim and Door Cost in Little Rock

Planning ranges only. Linear footage, the number of doors, whether the existing finish is oil based, and how much filling and caulking is needed all move the figure.

Why Choose Us for Trim and Door Painting?
Caulked before it is coated
Every gap between trim and wall gets filled. That single line is what makes trim look installed rather than stuck on.
Hand cut lines
Brush work against the wall and the ceiling. Tape on textured plaster bleeds and leaves a ridge.
A finish that takes abuse
Trim enamel, not wall paint. It cleans, it resists knocks, and it does not go tacky in an Arkansas summer.
How Trim Work Runs
Measure what is there
Linear feet of trim, number of doors, and whether crown or built-ins are included.
Check the existing finish
Old oil based trim needs different preparation from latex. Getting this wrong is why new trim paint peels.
Fill, caulk and sand
Nail holes filled, gaps caulked, old runs and drips sanded back flat.
Mask and protect
Floors, carpet edges, hardware and adjacent finishes covered.
Cut in and coat
Hand brushed enamel, two coats, with the doors given time between sides.
Reinstate
Hardware back on, doors rehung and adjusted, tape pulled the same day.

Trim and Door Painting Questions
How much does it cost to paint interior doors?
Around $90 to $180 per door for both sides, depending on whether it is a flat slab or a six panel and whether the hardware comes off. A whole house of trim and doors on a three bedroom typically lands between $1,800 and $4,000.
Should trim be painted before or after the walls?
Trim first, then walls, is the cleaner order in most rooms, because cutting the wall color down to a finished trim edge is easier than the reverse. On some jobs the order changes. I will tell you which applies.
What sheen should trim be?
Semi-gloss is the usual answer, because it cleans well and defines the edge against a flat wall. Satin is a softer look that hides imperfection better on older, wavier trim.
My trim is oil based. Does that matter?
Yes, a great deal. Latex put straight over old oil enamel will peel off in strips. It needs de-glossing and a bonding primer first. I test for this before quoting.
Can you paint stained wood trim white?
Yes. It needs de-glossing, a stain-blocking bonding primer and two finish coats, and it is permanent. It is a common request in older Little Rock homes and it transforms a dark room.
